Air Quality and Noise Monitoring through Citizen Science
Clean air is one of the most important resources we share, yet it is often taken for granted. To better understand the quality of the air we breathe and the noise that surrounds us, we have invited citizens to become part of the monitoring process. With 70 portable devices measuring air pollution and another 70 recording noise levels, everyday people are turning into researchers of their own environment.
This collaborative approach is not only about collecting data – it is about building awareness. Children in schools, young people, and community members learn how to measure pollution, why it matters, and how their small contributions can make a real difference. Each measurement taken is a step towards understanding our surroundings and protecting the health of both people and nature.
All the information gathered will be brought together in an open online database for air pollution monitoring. This tool will reveal patterns and trends, offering valuable insights that can guide future decisions. In this way, the voices of citizens and the power of science come together to create cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable communities.
