Introducing our projects!

Empowering Collaborative Biodiversity Projects Worldwide.

Read our story

NDOR, the mybiOSis database, serves as a comprehensive repository of diverse information, encompassing a wide range of taxonomic and geographic categories. In order to streamline specific tasks, we have introduced a dedicated section known as Projects. Within this domain, individuals can form groups to collectively pursue goals or maintain cohesion in their activities. Single-member projects are also welcome. As long as the communal resource is improved, any type of activity is encouraged. Projects can span from species inventories in particular geographic regions and taxonomic databases to the development of keys for organism identification and other software tools.

Furthermore, projects can also extend beyond the confines of mybiosis.info. In other words, we have no objections to you conducting projects for external organizations/institutions within the mybiosis.info environment (including the possibility of being remunerated for such work), as long as it is based on your own research, observations, or involvement in digitizing scientific literature. High-resolution data should remain inaccessible to other members, but the community can benefit from the byproducts of your projects, such as illustrations, low-resolution maps, digitized literature, your expertise, and interactions on forums.

Participating in a project within mybiosis.info offers several advantages, including:

  • Feedback and quality control for your observations and identifications.
  • Voluntary participation of other members with their observations and expertise.
  • Free use of infrastructure and data management, allowing you to keep your data organized without the need to invest time and money in building and maintaining another database. Our infrastructure is the result of years of dedicated taxonomic and biodiversity IT expertise.
  • Access to integrated mobile tools for data acquisition.
  • Making your data visible to all members of your project, keeping it in one centralized location while enabling worldwide accessibility to a selected group or the public.
  • Exporting your data in formats such as Excel.
  • Utilizing available tools for creating project pages and reporting progress through seamless integration between the database and publication tools.
  • Building a community that is aware of your projects, leading to higher ranking and visibility.
  • Enlisting our services for building specific tools or functions within mybiosis.info. Rather than creating an entirely new system, we can enhance the existing one by incorporating new applications.

Projects can range from public to private, and visibility can be adjusted from being fully visible to hidden. They can have a predetermined duration or continue indefinitely.

For efficient data management, specific tools like projectsManager and referencesManager are provided. These applications facilitate easy administration of various types of data collected by a group.

Within the mybiosis.info desktop environment, you can find a list of existing projects by accessing the Projects application. Clicking on a project name from the list allows you to examine detailed information about the project. Project information is organized in user interface tabs. To view project members, navigate to the project members tab, which also includes functions for requesting project membership. Group administrators have the ability to invite friends to join a project and expand activities through various types of tasks.
